Historically, Higher Education has been resilient during times of economic downturn. Often, when things in the traditional economy seem unpredictable, people will use education to formalize and elevate their experience.
In this analysis I leverage National Student Clearinghouse data and historical IPEDS data to look at how the economic downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic was the same and how it was different to past economic downturns. From this analysis I provide insights for Higher Ed professionals.
